NOBE constructed a new production facility of nearly 6,000 m² for BLRT Valukoda in Kohila, enabling the company to triple its annual cast iron production capacity to 3,000 tonnes and manufacture larger and heavier components. Temperatures of molten iron in the modern facility reach up to 1,500°C, and the plant will eventually provide employment for up to 70 people.
Built on the site of a former paper mill, the project presented NOBE’s engineers with several technical challenges. A layer of solidified ash up to three metres thick beneath the site, together with the specific requirements of the foundry’s production equipment, called for carefully engineered foundation solutions.
A key aspect of the project was the close coordination of construction works with the installation of production equipment, requiring precise planning and seamless collaboration with the client.
